Volunteer Opportunities – Finance & Grant Fundraising

West Berkshire Therapy Centre supports adults with mobility challenges to regain strength, confidence and independence. To keep our much-valued rehabilitation gym accessible and sustainable, we are looking to strengthen our volunteer team in two key areas: financial oversight and grant fundraising.

We are currently seeking volunteers for the following roles:

Volunteer Treasurer

A trusted role at the heart of the organisation, helping to ensure our finances remain well managed and reliable.

  • Oversee around 20 payments each month

  • Ensure our 10 staff are paid accurately and on time

  • Work with Trustees to maintain sound financial oversight

  • Supported by an independent payroll provider and bookkeeper

This role can sit within the Board of Trustees or alongside it, depending on your preference and experience. It would suit someone who is numerate, detail-focused, and values responsibility and trust, perhaps with finance or business experience.

Volunteer Trust Fundraiser (Grants Lead)

A key role focused on securing the funding that keeps our existing gym running.

  • Identify and approach suitable grant-giving Trusts (around 5–6 per month)

  • Prepare and submit funding applications

  • Help secure £50,000+ per year towards core costs

  • Maintain a simple pipeline of opportunities and outcomes

You will be supported with background information and previous applications. This role would suit someone who enjoys writing, research and working independently towards meaningful outcomes.

Volunteer Grants Research & Application Support

A flexible supporting role, helping to build and maintain a steady flow of grant applications.

  • Research potential funders and opportunities

  • Assist in drafting applications

  • Help track applications and outcomes

  • Support the overall grants process

You will work alongside the Grants Lead and fundraising team, with guidance and examples provided. This role would suit someone organised, methodical, and interested in writing or research—either to use existing skills or develop new ones.

All roles are flexible and can be carried out largely remotely to suit your availability. A full introduction and ongoing support will be provided.

If you would like to contribute your skills in a purposeful and trusted way, we would be delighted to hear from you.
