Bowls!

Newbury Bowling Club, based in Victoria Park, Newbury, have been raising funds through this year's bowling season, in support of West Berkshire Therapy Centre, the local charity that helps local people to keep mobile and independent through the use of power-assisted exercise machines. Bowling Club Events Organiser, Phil Simpson, visited the Therapy Centre last week and presented a full and heavy bucket containing £1,001.82 in cash, which his club had raised during the six-and a half-month outdoor bowling season.

In mid-summer, the two organisations enjoyed an afternoon of fun and games together on the bowling green, when staff and volunteers from the Therapy Centre played bowls alongside the experts.

Therapy Centre Trustee, John Holt, said: 'It's really great when a sporting club such as Newbury Bowling Club recognises our work, raises funds for us and helps us to maintain and develop our important service. It's always great to see community groups coming together, to learn and share.'
